Fu Qiang in an explorer and looks to leave his mark on subjects that have been rarely interpreted before in the past. This mindset is nicely reflected in this painting titled “Moon Light”, which depicts a beautiful night scene of a village in Anhui province in China. Despite it being a painting dominated by darker tones, Fu Qiang constructs different areas for viewers to savour, specifically the
textural qualities and the combination of various colours on the walls of the houses. These are balanced out by the flatly painted dark waters in the foreground. Fu Qiang is clear on what he wishes to bring out in the painting and successfully leaves his mark on this painting of a night scene.
Fu Qiang is a professor at the Anhui University School of Arts and member of the China Oil Painting Society. His oil painting, 《春⻛又绿》was once selected to be exhibited at the 8th National Exhibition of Fine Arts, China and was awarded the second prize at the Anhui Province oil painting competition.
