Lotus and Dragonfly

The literal painters preferred to use ink over collar and consequently mostly used ink in flower-and-bird paintings. Even if color was used there was a preference for lightness and simplicity of tone. The beautiful aspects of this painting would include the light ink wash on the lotus leaves contrasted the bright pink applied on the lotus flower and the presence of the hovering dragonfly. Overall this painting is a nice expression of purity and life. Born in 1954, Wen Cheng Yi graduated from the Southwest University College of Fine Arts. He has been a professional artist for 42 years.
