Working and living in Singapore, 62 year old local artist Tung Yue Nang paints beautiful scenes of iconic places in Singapore with the ink medium on rice paper.
“Foundation” is a well executed painting with a captivating composition. The iconic Anderson bridge along the Singapore river is nicely encapsulated by the twigs and branches of aged old trees growing along the river bank. A bumboat from the Singapore River Cruise is depicted right below the bridge. naturally cultivating a point of focus within the frame which the trees have formed. The painting accentuates the peaceful ambience and enduring presence of the Singapore River Tung Yue Nang held a solo exhibition titled “Silence” at Cape of Good Hope Art Gallery in 2014. He was awarded the first prize in the ink painting category at the Annual Dr Tan Tze Chor Art Awards in 2002, 2014 and 2019.
