Fu Qiang believes that a painting should surprise the viewer, evoke happiness and create moments for contemplation. In this artwork titled “Dawn”, viewers observe the generous application of purple and blue tones on large segments of the composition. Comparatively, the houses in the centre of the painting not only occupies a smaller area but are expressed with fleeting brushstrokes and summarised into shapes. The impressionistic style of painting this scenery reflects Fu Qiang’s objective of providing viewers with an alternative of what a sunrise could look like when viewing a small town from afar. This painting definitely carries the spirit and essence of impressionists painting.
