China landscape artists’ understanding of nature did not relate to a single scene or landscape at a single point int time but attempted to understand the constant evolution and rhythms of the different seasons in nature. Traditional chinese paintings of the past were also heavily influenced by daoist philosophy such as “being together with heaven and earth” or “taking joy in the waters and the hills”. Born in 1954, Wen Cheng Yi graduated from the Southwest University College of Fine Arts. He has been a professional artist for 42 years.
