This painting was inspired by photographs taken around the Bako National Park during Marvin Chew’s trip back to his hometown in Sarawak, Malaysia. Marvin does a excellent job in expressing the clear blue skies, the calm waters and the beautiful greenery in this composition. Upon close observation, viewers would notice the attention paid to depict the detailing on the rocks in the centre painting. Overall, this is an outstanding painting by Marvin Chew.
Marvin Chew has held 4 solo exhibitions thus far in his professional career as an artist. In 2008, Marvin participated in Folk Art Forum exhibition held in conjunction with Rainforest World Music Festival in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. 10 years later, 2018 he participated in the inaugural “International Watercolour Masters Exhibition 2018” at Weston Park, United Kingdom. In June 2021, his painting was accepted by the National Watercolour Society 101st International Open Exhibition which marked Marvin’s third acceptance.
