Aliwal Street, Kampong Glam

Marvin Chew is well known for this watercolour paintings of street scenes in Singapore. He expresses familiar scenes into impressionistic works of art with the emphasis of evoking a sense of nostalgia and belonging.

Aliwal Street is a part of Kampong Glam which was gazetted as a conservation area in 1989. Rich in histroy, this area is now bustling with activity and home to a good number of boutique shops selling textiles, cosy cafes, bars and restaurants.
